Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I do respect that many pro-life people are sincere in their belief that all life is sacred. And your point about the Bible condeming death is quite valid (though there are exceptions to that rule cited in the Bible). Yet, innocent men, women, and children have been killed in Iraq by our bombs and bullets, in a war that our pro-life, religious president thinks is completely justified.

I strongly believe that the right to control one's fertility is a fundamental human right, and that we can trust women to make these decisions. I don't equate aborting a fetus with the killing of a baby (a baby becomes an individual with rights when it takes its first breath of air and can survive without being attached to its mother via an embilical cord). I am, like many people, uneasy with late-term abortions, but they are very rare and usually done in cases where the woman's life is threatened or the fetus is severely deformed. The best way to reduce abortions (and take the edge off the debate) is to provide medically-accurate sex ed plus abstinence programs in our public schools, and to ensure that everyone has access to free or low-cost contraceptions and reproductive health care services. Moral questions about sexuality should be discussed in the home and place of worship, and not be dictated by the state. Ideally, abortion should be rare, safe, and legal. Sorry to go on and on. The discussion continues...
